過去進行式

用來表示"過去時間的狀態"或者"在過去某一個時間點時段正在進行的狀態"

1. What were you doing at 8 clock last night?
2. It was raining at 4 clock this morning.
3. Tim was watching TV, while I was cooking dinner.
4. Judy was working in Taipei at that time.

和過去式比較

對於結果表示未知(或者是說從句子不能了解結果)

1. We are building our company last year.  我們去年正在建立了我們的公司 (完成與否未知)
2. We built our company last year. 我們去年建立了我們的公司
